Michael Lynche Makes Kara Cry on American Idol

Casey James and Crystal Bowersox who?!?

With a performance of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work,” Michael Lynche established himself as the new American Idol favorite last night.

Showing incredible range, from an amazing falsetto to an impressive baritone, the man known as Big Mike brought Kara DioGuardi to tears. A lot of tears. She could barely get her words of praise out as she choked up. It was actually a very sweet moment.

Below, we’ve ranked the eight performances from last night. Lynche aside, who was your favorite?

Michael Lynche: So this is what happens when your wife is in the audience, huh?
Casey James: Not his best performance, and we agree the Keith Urban song was a safe choice… but who else deserves this spot?
Alex Lambert: You can stop with the banana references now, Ellen. Solid rendition of a Ray LaMontagne classic proves Lambert is simply a great singer.
Andrew Garcia: The judges have forced him to get as creative as possible each week, taking his focus off actual singing, it seems. Can we all just forget about his “Straight Up” arrangement at this point?
Todrick Hall: Points of taking a risk. But “Somebody to Love” almost belongs to the Glee cast at this point. We just think of them when we hear it.
Aaron Kelly: Solid version of “I’m Already There.” We’re glad Simon shut Kara up about taking the song so literally and making it seem like a young crooner couldn’t take it on.
Lee DeWyze: He’ll likely stick around, but our least favorite performance from this rocker.
Tim Urban: Were we listening to a different version of “Hallelujah?” We didn’t buy him at all singing this classic.

JOHNNY DEPP INSPIRED BY JIM MORRISON FOR NEW FILM

Johnny Depp has landed a treat as the narrator of Tom Dicillo’s new documentary on the band – he has been granted access to late frontman Jim Morrison’s poetry, which he’ll read in the film.

Johnny Depp recounts the history of the band in When You’re Strange, featuring footage culled from hundreds of hours of rare footage, and Jim Morrison’s poetry has now been added to the soundtrack – read by the actor.

The Doors drummer John Densmore is urging fans to see the film after watching it at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany.

He says, “I think Tom’s film shows a little bit more about all four of us. And it shows Jim in the beginning, his innocence and shyness and everything, and I love seeing that – that’s the Jim I knew.”

Khloé and Lamar Invest in the iBone

Khloé Kardashian Odom and Lamar Odom know how to keep the show on the road.

“We do our things to keep it sexy,” Khloé said on Wednesday’s Lopez Tonight, referring to the couple’s efforts to stay, um, connected since they spend so much time apart.

Odom says that he and Khloé are big fans of iChat.

“I call it ‘iBoning,’” his wife interjected.

For starters, we suggest she start working on her own app.

“We’re married, you gotta make it fun,” Khloé offered. “He’s on the road and if I’m in Miami…we still gotta see each other.”

“Do you do that every night?” host George Lopez wondered.

“As much as possible,” Lamar said.

And since Khloé never knows which part of her may be on webcam on any given night, she may as well look her best at all times.

“You gotta keep it clean down there,” Khloé insisted when Lopez asked about a recent bikini-waxing incident the E! star had involving sister Kourtney Kardashian.

“You can tell I’m into the bald, you know,” Lamar joked, pointing to his own smooth pate.

“It’s disgusting if you let it go crazy,” she explained. “Lamar was coming in town when he was playing the [Miami] Heat and I was trying to get a little clean. We’re at a lingerie store, I was buying him a little present that night and [Kourtney] was like ‘Hello, you gotta fix your situation.’ And I said ‘Well, I’m in Miami and I don’t know anyone here.’”

So, in the end, Kourtney offered her amateur services, saying she used to do it for other girls when she was in college.

“She’s 30, college was like 10 years ago,” Khloé cut to the chase. “Point is, she does not remember how to do it. That s–t hurt so badly! She burned me more than helped me.”

“How’d you like it?” she asked Lamar.

“I could work through it,” he said.

NBA Owner Accused of Screwing Pregnant Nanny

The dude who owns the Indiana Pacers basketball team is being sued by his former nanny — after she got the chop … when she was ready to pop.

In a lawsuit filed yesterday in L.A. County Superior Court, Herb Simon and his Thai supermodel wife Bui are accused of firing Claudia Leite after she told her bosses she became pregnant last month.

In the suit, Leite claims the family “feared” that she would want to take a “brief or limited medical leave of absence” around the time the baby was due — and according to Leite, that wasn’t gonna cut it.

But the nanny isn’t going after the Simon’s alone — the family’s former driver is also suing the couple, claiming they kicked him to the curb when the guy became “disabled with severe infections.”

Both the nanny and the driver claim the Simons also screwed them out of several paychecks — they’re both asking for an unspecified amount of cash.

We called, but we’re unable to reach Simon’s rep for comment.

Corey Haim/Andrew Koenig Connection

In an ironic twist of fate, Corey Haim was fired from a movie in late 2008 because of an alleged drug issue — a movie that also starred recently deceased actor Andrew Koenig.

Haim was cast as one of the leads in a movie called “DaZe.” Executive producer Miller Uwanawich tells TMZ, “Corey’s drug problem became too much of a problem” and he was fired as a result.

According to Miller, Corey would show up for table reads and be “all over the place, definitely showing signs of being on drugs.”

Miller says he went to Corey’s home a few times to try and help him with the apparent drug problem, but was unsuccessful. A.J. Llamas was recast in Corey’s role.

It’s also the last movie in which Andrew Koenig — the “Growing Pains” star who committed suicide last month — appeared.

Carey has been gushing to the media how much she loooooves Woody Allen and how she would just die to work with the famed director!

“I’ve never met him, but Bullets Over Broadway is one of my favorite movies ever,” Mariah declared at the Oscars. “I can quote every word. I think it’s amazing.”

Wonder if she’ll be getting a phone call anytime soon…

Here’s a first look/listen at Dakota Fanning’s singing abilities in the upcoming film “The Runaways”. We also get a few more clips of the movie in this official music video for “Cherry Bomb”.

For not having a professional vocal/musical background, she really does a great a job!

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning will be out promoting the movie next week on several talk shows. Kristen is on Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday – I think he should try to get her to do a segment with him for his on-going “Robert Is Bothered” skit. LOL!

No Hurt Love

You wouldn’t think that an Oscar-winning film would have any trouble at the box-office. You wouldn’t think, but it is so!

Summit Entertainment finds itself in quite a pickle this week as it has tried to repitch The Hurt Locker to movie theater chains for another release and no one seems to be biting. For example, Regal Theaters flat out said no, citing the problem is not the film itself, but the fact that it is already on DVD.

Understandable, but it seems to us that it is the kind of flick that is best appreciated on the big screen and with all the buzz, an extra week in theaters couldn’t hurt.

Who says you need to win American Idol to get big?! (Really all you need is to appeal to middle America!)

Season 8 American Idol contestant Danny Gokey released his new album last week and already it is soaring up the music charts. He has sold over 65,000 copies of his CD, My Best Days, which has landed him at the #4 spot on the Billboard 200 and #3 country album-sales chart.

Adam Lambert Looks Back On His Nasty SuBo Comments

But he’s still not a fan!

Adam Lambert admitted that his mean-spirited comments about Susan Boyle’s album were a little over the line saying, “It came across a bit harsher than how it actually went down. But I’m not a fan of the record, it wasn’t a lie.”

As for people’s misconceptions about him and being an American Idol contestant he explains:

“[People think] you come off the show and all of a sudden you are put in this machine and puppeted into this product. That’s not my experience at all. I’m a pretty outspoken, upfront, forward type of person, and I have opinions about what I want to be as an artist.

“I told them I want to be glam, be pop, be rock, I want to be everything, blend it all together and have a great time doing it. Be theatrical and be out there.”

Good for you, Adam — but we still think you could give SuBo a break! She has a completely different sound and audience in comparison to you!
