Corey Haim/Andrew Koenig Connection

In an ironic twist of fate, Corey Haim was fired from a movie in late 2008 because of an alleged drug issue — a movie that also starred recently deceased actor Andrew Koenig.

Haim was cast as one of the leads in a movie called “DaZe.” Executive producer Miller Uwanawich tells TMZ, “Corey’s drug problem became too much of a problem” and he was fired as a result.

According to Miller, Corey would show up for table reads and be “all over the place, definitely showing signs of being on drugs.”

Miller says he went to Corey’s home a few times to try and help him with the apparent drug problem, but was unsuccessful. A.J. Llamas was recast in Corey’s role.

It’s also the last movie in which Andrew Koenig — the “Growing Pains” star who committed suicide last month — appeared.

Growing Pains Actor Hanged Himself, Reports Say

Reports now say former Growing Pains actor Andrew Koenig was found hanged from a tree when his lifeless body was discovered in Stanley Park on Thursday.

Sources close to Koenig say the actor “didn’t want to be found” and the 11-person search party composed of Andrew’s family and friends “dreaded” what they were going to find in the park.

Andrew’s mother and father have asked for people to donate to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or U.S. Campaign for Burma in Andrew’s honor because Koenig was a man who “cared deeply about others… working on a grass roots level to help those in need.”

It’s still so sad.

Our thoughts continue to stay with the Koenigs.

Andrew Koenig's Sister "Really Appreciates People Caring" About Her Missing Brother

Andrew Koenig

Andrew Koenig‘s family is keeping hope alive, but they remain “very, very worried” about him.

“We’re all kind of a mess as you might guess,” Koenig’s sister, Danielle, told E! News Tuesday when our cameras caught up with her outside CNN headquarters in Los Angeles, where she was interviewed for Larry King Live.

While Koenig, who was last seen by friends on Feb. 14, is said to have suffered from depression, Danielle said that the last time she saw her brother, he was “acting normal.”

“I spoke to him briefly via email, maybe around the 5th or 6th of February,”
she said. “And I saw him January 31st, for several hours.

“He was acting normal,” she added. “But he’s suffered from depression for many years. He didn’t seem particularly depressed. We were there for a birthday and he seemed all right.”

Danielle said that she doesn’t know whether or not her brother gave his landlord 30 days’ notice on his Venice, Calif., apartment—but that if he did indeed clear out, she hopes he was merely relocating.

“I hope that’s what he was doing. I hope that was it,” she said.

Authorities say that Koenig’s trail went cold on Feb. 16, the last day he used his credit cards or cell phone. He had been booked on a flight from Vancouver to Los Angeles, but he never boarded the plane.

Vancouver police are still expressing hope that Koenig is alive, but none of the tips they’ve recieved have panned out.

“A good lead would lead to them finding him,” Danielle said. “So I guess none of the leads have been fruitful yet. I certainly encourage anyone who thinks they’ve seen him to call the Vancouver Police Department and talk to Constable Ralla and Detective Payette and tell them what they know.”

Her continued hope that Andrew is out there somewhere is why Danielle has been talking to the press in the first place.

“This is not comfortable being on camera like this,” she told E!. “It’s not something any of us want to do. But we really appreciate people caring. I read the Facebook stuff and everyone’s been incredibly supportive. And that does help.”

'Growing Pains' Star — Battling Depression

Andrew KoenigThe parents of Andrew Koenig — who has reportedly been missing for the past week — described their son as “suffering from depression” and “not doing good” in the days leading up to his disappearance.

Judy and Walter Koenig (who played Pavel Chekov in the “Star Trek” series) tell TMZ the last time heard from Andrew was on February 9. They say his cell phone is turned off and that they have learned the last time his phone received a text was on February 16 in Vancouver.

They say he was last seen at a bakery in the Stanley Park area of Vancouver.

The Koenigs tell TMZ they plan to fly up to Vancouver in the next few days. They feel the police in Vancouver have been doing a good job so far.

Lance Miccio, who worked with Koenig on several projects, tells TMZ he reached out to Koenig about a project two weeks ago but Koening passed, saying he was “not going to work anymore.”

Right around that time, Miccio says Koenig dropped off a bag of Miccio’s stuff. Miccio says he hasn’t spoken to Koenig since.

Miccio also said he thought Koenig was “suffering from depression.”
